Kisumu Youth Football Association Project- Comic Relief

Our wonderful Team Honk leaders Annie, Penny and Tanya have been in Kenya visiting projects that have been supported by Comic Relief.

One of these projects is the Kisumu Youth Football Association Project.

This organisation receives support from Comic Relief, that is used to provide mentoring for vulnerable girls, some of which are orphaned, from low income families or living in slums.

‘I share the knowledge I learn from this mentoring program with girls in my community that don’t go to school’ Lavender, age 18

‘For many of these kids, football is the only happy time in their weeks’ Kevin, KYFA, speaks about the effects of support.

Many girls in mentor-ship programs go on to become mentors themselves and share their new knowledge, rippling out into the community.

‘Thanks to this mentoring project Ida, orphaned after the death of both parents, secured orphanage accommodation & schooling’

I am looking forward to hearing more about their visits, and proud to be a part of Team Honk again this year for Comic Relief.
